LEANARTS Program Announces Selected Teams

December 8, 2012 – Ten teams from across the performing arts disciplines have been chosen to participate in LEANARTS, the experimental pilot program designed to support promising performing arts initiatives in Toronto by introducing them to the tools and methodologies used by technology startups.

The teams are: Associated Designers of Canada, Music in the Barns, FIXT POINT, Kaeja d'Dance, Liederwolfe, Loose TEA Music Theatre, Pat the Dog Theatre Creation, Pocket Concerts, The Ton Beau String Quartet, and Weld Art Collective. Congratulations to the selected teams and thanks to all who applied.

Over a period of five weeks in January-February 2015, the ten teams will be engaged in a process of "ideation", drawn from Steve Blank's approach to customer discovery and Alex Osterwalder's Value Proposition Canvas. They will learn to prototype on a small scale, market test through face-to-face interactions, and gain validated feedback that will allow them to build more engaging programs and solutions with higher probability of success.

LEANARTS culminates in Demo Night, February 13, 2015 where the teams will pitch their projects and talk about what they've learned at an event attended by funders, media and partner organizations.

LEANARTS is delivered in partnership with the Performing Arts Alliance, The Working Group and MaRS with funding from the Canada Council for the Arts.
