Dear CAPACOA Members and Stakeholders,
At the annual National Network Meeting convened and hosted by CAPACOA this past May, several of CAPACOA’s network members, and those networks at the table who are now considering becoming members, formally asked CAPACOA to move its annual conference from its November slot to early in the following year, in response to what has become an increasingly demanding fall conference season in Canada and the U.S. Many regional presenter contacts/ conferences and events take place immediately before, after – and even during - the annual November conference.
Research and consultation to date indicates many advantageous reasons to move the 2012 CAPACOA conference to early 2013, specifically February 1 – 4, 2013 including: significantly less expensive hotel room rates at that time of year, better access to and costs for venues and an ability to align with other national and international events. APAP, ISPA and La Bourse RIDEAU are all situated in the first quarter of the calendar year. This dynamic approach, with regional presenter meetings held throughout the spring, summer and fall culminating in inter/national gatherings in the mid-winter, provides us with a unique opportunity to capitalize on the momentum from other events, leverage better rates for delegates, and above all helps to ensure that as many CAPACOA members as possible, in all member categories, can attend and enrich their national gathering.
At the recent June 14th meeting of the Board of Directors, held in Toronto, the Board tabled a motion :“To move the 2012 conference to winter 2013 (Feb. 1-4), subject to member consultation.”
We are therefore requesting that our members and stakeholders participate in the following survey, in order that the Board may make a decision on the proposed move of the November 2012 conference to Feb. 1 – 4, 2013 pending analysis of a membership survey.
