September 26, 2011 - The CAPACOA Board of Directors unanimously approved a motion to move its 2012 annual conference from its November time slot to January 23 – 26, 2013. These dates are a Wednesday to a Saturday, instead of the traditional Friday to a Monday.
This change was felt necessary to resolve a schedule conflict between the CAPACOA Conference and the FrancoFête en Acadie, both of which were taking place during the first week of November.
After surveying our members and stakeholders through online surveys and meetings, we were able to determine an 82% approval rating for a move to winter. The original dates proposed were Feb. 1 – 4, 2013 but concern was raised over proximity to RIDEAU’s La Bourse event and it was felt that moving backwards slightly on the calendar would help alleviate some of the congestion in early February.
2013 will be the 25th CAPACOA conference, and the timing of this move presents a great opportunity to celebrate all that has come before us and all that lies ahead.
