October 20, 2011 - Bill 25 forbids businesses from reselling tickets for shows, sport events or culturel event above face value without prior consent from the presenter.
This bill aims particularly at massive - and sometimes automated - onine ticket buying and reselling. It may however create a void that will be filled by resale sites hosted in other provinces or countries.
In an interview (starting at 13' 25" - in French), Claude Martin, cultural industries economy specialist, said that presenters would sooner or later have to adopt dynamic pricing as a way to counter ticket speculation.
Specialists taking part in a CAPACOA-led online discussion on Online ticket sale, resale and group sale had also come to the same conclusion.
This discussion will continue at the Who's buying...Who's Selling plenary session, during the CAPACOA conference.
