CAPACOA responds to the cancellation of the Music Festivals program at the Canada Council for the Arts

January 20. 2011 - CAPACOA sent a letter to the head of the Music Section, questioning the meaning of that the change with regard to the Council's commitment to public engagement to its relationship to presenters.

The letter also stresses the potential impacts of these changes and the face other anticipated program reviews and cuts:

"As with the changes to the sound recording program, I would respectfully reiterate that there are stronger choices to be made in terms of communicating such vital information to the community. Today, festivals have been caught off guard and are deeply concerned - not only about these changes, but what they may signify for presenters at Council."
