Cultural Diversity and the Arts

September 8, 2011 - “Arts experiences are a valuable way of bringing together people from different languages and cultural traditions”.

This is one of the messages CAPACOA conveyed to Members of Parliament in a meeting convened by the Honourable Jim Karyagiannis, Liberal Multiculturalism Critic, as part of consultations with community stakeholders. CAPACOA's presentation demonstrated how the arts can "help promote tolerance and recognition of others and help contribute to intercultural understanding", thereby fostering a sense of Canadian identity. Participants in the meeting were very receptive.
